Gira, a top manufacturer in the electrotechnical industry located in Radevormwald, Germany, produces switches and sockets, as well as system components for intelligent building technology. Their in-house tool construction "mold-centers" by OPS-Ingersoll are used for manufacturing electrodes and hard milling. These “mold centers” are equipped with Carl Hirschmann Reference System 5000 to produce electrodes and with Clamping System 8000 for the palletizing of workpieces. After determining the offset parameters for workpieces and electrodes on the measuring device, the data is collected by chip identification and transferred online to the machine. The combination of the sinking EDM with the HSC machining center handling unit and the permanent use of Carl Hirschmann Clamping Systems, have more than doubled the Gira’s productivity. Gira also trusts in Carl Hirschmann Clamping Systems for EDM wire cutting applications.

Application in Dental Technology

As full-service provider of conservation and restoration systems for natural teeth and prosthodontics, Kulzer-cara® offers a wide range of products for dental surgeries and laboratories..

For production of tooth frames, the subtractive process (grinding, milling and turning) was continuously improved to cover more indications and to increase economic efficiency.

For standard processes tri-axial milling is sufficient; but not for complex restorations featuring complicated geometries with undercuts or divergent snags.
For such applications, a simultaneous 5-axial milling process is used.

For quick and precise setting of blanks Kulzer-cara® uses Carl Hirschmann Clamping System 5000.
